The Department of Fire Services and Civil Defense is an Emergency Service Agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. All activities of this organization are dedicated to the service of the people. The then British government created fire service in 1943-40 in undivided India. At the divisional level, Calcutta Fire Service for Calcutta City and Bengal Fire Service (Kolkata) for the Bengal in undivided Bengal.In 1947, the region's fire service was called East Pakistan Fire Service. Likewise, during the Second World War, the Department of Civil Defense was created in the Air Defense Prevention (ARP) in the initial phase and in the next legal process, in 1951. For the purpose of management, there are 1 division named after the Department of Roads and Highways Department.
